Jane, of the forest a 3" Needle Felted Baby Mouse By Barby Anderson (SOLD)

Helen Priem made the wonderful blue jay.  Timary Peterson made the cute little wool nest and I embellished it with wool locks.  Liane Straub made the gorgeous vine swing where I attached the wool nest.

When a wee mouse is born in the forest that is all alone....
The creatures of the forest attach long vines to the huge forest trees....
And they build a tiny nest for the babe and attach it to the vines....
It is a warm nest, however at times she needs a bit of extra care.....
If she even squeaks out a tiny squeak....
A forest creature flies quickly to see what she needs. If she had a bad dream the blue jay comes to help her....
And he gently pushes the swing....
Lulling her back to sleep.....
And the jay makes sure she always has sweet berries to nibble on....
Oh how she loves the tender berries!
Soon the swing stops swinging....
The wee babe feels content and happy again....
For who could ask for more when all the creatures of the forest are your Mama and Papa?
Sleep little one....sleep.....

The Blue Jay Fairy 3" Needle Felted Bunny Fairy By Barby Anderson (SOLD)

Helen Priem made the beautiful Blue Jay!

In the long, long ago a wee Blue Jay Fairy appeared....
She was very special to the Blue Jays because it was due to her that they had their brilliant blue and white color!

At the time a common Blue Jay was plain white, however that white Blue Jay took her in when she was born.....
And brought her food. Soon he noticed that her wings were sparkling white and growing a bit....
He loved this wee fairy and rubbed his face up against her many a time....
One day magically the Blue Jay woke and his feathers were the most brilliant blue and his breast was sparkling white!
He then knew this wee Fairy had given him a great gift....
He was forever to be king of the forest when it came to his plummage!
The fairy also gave him a confident "call" and he could even mimic other bird songs too!
So when you see this brilliant bird and hear his call, you will know he had great beginnings all due to the "Blue Jay Fairy!

A 3" Needle Felted Baby Hummingbird Fairy By Barby Anderson (SOLD)

It is rare to set your eyes on a baby hummingbird fairy....
They are so tiny and usually hidden in soft downy owl feathers....
When she was born all of the forest birds placed tiny flowers on her head....
And the hummingbirds come and bless the wee fairy.....
The nest keeps the baby fairy warm.....
While her sparkling wings grow...
And when she is full grown....
She flies off to help the hummingbirds bring nectar to their babies....
If there are few flowers for the hummingbirds to find, the wee fairy has the hummingbird babes drink nectar from the flowers on her head.....
She is a beloved fairy that all love to see flitting around the forest flowers!

Anna a Wee 3" Dutch Mouse By Barby Anderson (SOLD)

The Uldra Troll, Owl and Gnome were made by Helen Priem!

There once was a little Dutch mouse who loved to blow into her windmill and make it swirl and whirl....
She loved being Dutch, wore tulips on her head and loved everything about windmills....
She also loved the Dutch shoes that the village cobbler made for wee Dutch dolls and often would sneak into the toy shop to try them on....
But there also lived an "Uldra" a troll like creature who never meant to do bad things but he had a very simple mind....
One day as the wee Dutch mouse was playing with her windmill the "Uldra" snuck up behind her.....
He saw her blowing into the beautiful spinning toy and wanted to blow into it also...
But when he did his breath was so powerful.....
That he felt the mouse slip from his hands.....
The wee mouse was whooshed into the air as the windmill was spinning madly....
The wind caught the windmill and she traveled quite far....
Holding on tight until she landed....
Right by a kindly Gnome!
She explained to the Gnome that she needed to return home to Holland....
So the Gnome called with a great screech and......
Down flew a magnificent owl!
The wee mouse was told by the Gnome that he could help her.... she explained to the owl how she missed home and must go back....
She tried and tried to blow into her windmill to take flight, however her tiny breath was just not enough.....
So the great owl pulled all his strength from inside him and flapped his huge wings.......
The wind from his wings was massive and up, up, up the mouse flew into the air.....
She flew a great distance and landed....
Right by her little home! How happy she was and she never forgot the great kindness of the grand owl!

Jay 3-3/4" Needle Felted Mouse By Barby Anderson (SOLD)

Helen Priem made the stunning Blue Jay named "Blue"!

Legend has it that there was a wee mouse that lived in the beautiful forest of "Rodanta"....
The little mouse was given the name "Jay".....
One day the most stunning bird flew down to greet "Jay" ......
He had the most beautiful feathers that "Jay" had even seen.....
"Jay" called his new friend "Blue" because the colors of his feathers were so lovely....
On a sunny morning "Jay" asked dear "Blue" what it was like soaring over the forest trees....
And "Blue" lifted the wee mouse onto his back and soared up, up, up...... and "Jay" squeaked with excitment!
Gently the beautiful blue bird floated down to the forest floor.... what a ride the little mouse had!
As a harvest mouse from the well known "Harvest Clan" he knew how to forage for many seeds, nuts.... and even corn from the fields beyond the forest...
His new friend "Blue" loved corn....
The gorgeous bird flew "Jay" home to his soft nest and the wee mouse fed him some corn from his acorn cap...
One kernel at a time....
What a strange sight to see such a friendship when they come from different ends of the forest!
However, a great friendship developed and they loved being in nature with all the forest creatures...
"Jay" even found a peanut that a squirrel buried....
Many times you would see the two sharing a peanut....
Because that is what friends do!
And when their tummies were full....
The beautiful blue bird lifted the wee mouse to lay him down in the soft nest....
He gently tucked in the mouse.....
And was glad to give up his nest to such a dear friend....
And so "Blue" and "Jay" were seen through the forest often.... and to this day look to the sky and you may see a Blue Jay!

Jammie and PJ from the "Long John" Clan 3" Needle Felted Mice By Barby Anderson (BOTH SOLD)

Long, long ago in the mystical village of Rodanta lived wee mice who mingled with many forest creatures. There were quite a few mouse clans in the village. The "Long John" Clan was a sweet little group of mice that loved wearing pajamas day and night. They were a sleepy bunch, however always took time to hunt for nuts and seeds. Many found nests in the forest while foraging and loved to take a quick nap inside the soft down nests. Little did some know that they were really the nests of the great barn owls and their babies. But oddly the owls always loved to care for the wee mice and gave up their nests without a hoot. Some even helped the wee mice gather nuts! I suppose even the grand owls could see the sweetness in the dear mice.
